Hi everyone,

I finally got a few half decent pictures of my Rams and Badis Badis....and thought I would put them on here. I know they aren't the best, but at least you can see the fish! :p

First off, the Rams:

And that's all...hope you liked them!

Thanks Michael! :)

They are some of my favorite fish too...they just have such big personalities.

Very nice , The first blue badis could be a female , they usually have a fuller looking belly .

The most beautiful male I have was once what I thought to be a female [ WAS THE RUNT OUT OF 6 ] :dunno: . The other is definately a male . ;)

Badis mix well with most dwarf cichlids

Nice pics , and I love your fish as well . :)

Badis are one of the most shy and gentle cichlids you can get.... but dont you find they hide all of the time? Everytime i have seen them at work they are just peeping out from behind rocks.... and before you ask they are not in with anything hectic unless you class agazzi dwarfs and juvi clown loaches as agressive lol..

They are a shy fish .

Mine like to hide , but with all the places they have to hide , they seem to be out more , looking and I think feeling very safe . :)

clown loaches may be a little too active for them :dunno: , I have skunk loaches [ pretty busy fish ], just not in the same tank .

Why don't you set up a 10 gal and bring some home [ more than one ] :)
they really like having many retreats , rocks/plants /wood , esp caves .

They breed pretty readily

Also they are a nandid , classed with leaf fish , and not a cichlid , though I would understand the confusion . They look like and are very similar to cichlids :)

Thanks guys :)

Nope, Bunji, I don't see them hiding much at all. They are usually out and about, watching the cats and other animals. The only one that sometimes hides is one of the Scarlet Badis.

Okay, Thanks Lucky. I was wondering if she was a girl or what...she just seemed like a girl to me, if you know what I mean!

Of my original 6 I had just 1 female , she seemed more social and ate more because of that :D , is that what you mean :) , she also ended up being the smallest :/ .
Her babies and grand babies are in my tank now with my adult male [ the only remaining member of the original group ].

Awww, I didn't know you had Badis Babies!

Yes, my girl seems more social...but I don't think she eats more. It seems like the male eats a LOT more. I just think she seemed to have a girly kind of attitude...I don't know. :p

very nice Anna!
i saw some cheap badis badis badis at my lfs yesterday........ :hey:
DD

Thanks LoachLover and DD :)

Ooooooh, You should get some Badis, if you have room, DD! They are great little fish. Cute too! :p

I get up to like 9 or 10 counting them , but I know there's more , some are really small , this is why I think either the father is breeding with his female off-spring , or just that the babies them selves have begun to breed . Some are almost 1 and a half inches where the smallest I've seen are less than 1/4 " long . :)
I have some pics here , if you look back a few pages .

Females will have much less color and slightly shorter dorsal and anal fins , also like I said females have fuller looking bellies .
If you have room , DD get some :)
