I just saw the pictures...they are so cute! You have very pretty ones!

I think the one in the picture is a female...I was looking at her compared to my male, and she has less color, and shorter fins. She doesn't seem to have a fuller belly though. Although she eats like a pig!

How big will the Badis Badis get? My male is pushing 2" right now...

Books say they'll grow to 3", my biggest is about 2 and 1/4", and I think done growing .

There are several species of Badis and Dario [ more than people might think ], the Blue ones are Badis badis badis
I think the Scarlets may actually be Darios .

With different species of badis come slightly different sizes , I don't think any grow larger than 3" .

Give them time , if the male stops coming out , he could be nesting , badis males are stay at home dads , and good ones too .
They spawn in caves or secluded spots , and not on substrate in my experience .

They are also know as the dwarf Chameleon fish , they'll change colors right before your eyes depending on their mood .

Oh, yeah, I've seen him change colors! It scared me to death the first time I saw it. He went right from light colored with light fins to almost black with BRIGHT blue fins. It was so pretty!

I have a problem with my male Badis badis badis (I guess it is?). He bullies the female like you wouldn't believe...so I took her out, and she's in the hopsital tank right now. Is this normal, or should I keep her out? She's pretty beat up...

My female was always pretty tattered as well .

Mine lived in the tank in my sig so I left them together until they began breeding pretty steady , she mated with 2 males at the same time , well almost the same time . I eventually moved her out , females don't hide like the males do . I mean they[ she ] stay[ed] out in the open always it seemed, that's why I said they seem more social .
Yeah , take her out for a little bit , she may become stressed other wise .Maybe when you return her they'll breed .

Is it possible to get another female ?

Does he go after your Scarlets ?

Aggression between my males was minimal , but the female always looked worn .
I wonder why .

Unfortunatly, I just looked in there, and she was dead.

He does have another female in there, but he pretty much ignores her. Never chases the Scarlets. Even though they are about 1/3 the size of him...

He seemed to particurally hate this girl....
