Ram Rubbing On Rocks.....

will do wilder, thanks again you have helped alot. i hope i have treated for the right thing...... :unsure: i did get some treatment for flukes aswell so if no change after treatment then ill try that.....

my rams now have red along the dorsal fin next to the body and 2 have red spots on the side, 1 just behind the gill and the other towards the rear of the body....

i have nearly finished the treatment for ich (last 1 tomorrow). my rams still are flashing but not as much, their fins are still clamped and two are still hiding away, one has a red patch but i dont know if its a soar or jst from flashing..... they all seem to have red along the dorsal fins. 2 have very pale colouring.
3 of my corys are very unactive most of the time but show no signs of flashing or spots....
2 of my platys are constantly at the surface.....
my loach has been spotted yawning but not often....

i now know it wasnt ich but i did the full treatment as i started it, i have purchased some interpet anti internal bacteria and some wormer plus as recomended. should i go ahead with these treatments? i want to get it right this time.... and dont want to stress the fish anymore than they are....

i turned my heater up to 28 degrees a couple of days ago, all my fish feed well and show no signs of bloating or sunken bellys, i cant see any lice etc that are visable.

i did a 50% water change today and washed the plants and decor in tank water. before doing this my water readings were -

nitrite = 0
ammonia = 0
nitrate = 10/20
pH = 7.9

i am adding the final ich treatment tomorrow and i am away for the weekend so will do another water change and add some carbon in the filter on monday, i will then leave for 48 hrs as stated on treatment bottle before treating for anything else.

i hope my info here helps in dignostic.....

thanks, matt :unsure:

I wouldn't add the last dose. I would just do a water change and run some black carbon then add the wormer plus and anti internal bacteria med by interpet.

just got back home from a weekend away and 1 of my rams is dead... (r.i.p) i added the last dose of ich treatment sat morning before leaving, so that is all done and dusted now. since getting home i have done a 50% water change and added a bag of carbon in my filter. as i said 1 ram has died and 1 is still quite pale and hiding a bit and still has red parts on its dorsal fin, the other 2 seem to be recovering and the red sore on 1 is smaller than before.....
the wormer plus doesnt state if carbon is to be removed or not but interpet treatment says to remove carbon.... how long does the carbon need to be in for before removal or do i leave it in?

I would run the carbon for a least two days.
You will need to remove the black carbon before adding the other meds.
Black carbon only works for 2 to 9 days.
R.I.P.

Hi , just joined and read your problem , just 1 question when you bought your fish were they locally tank bred or from local fish shop supplier ? . Looking at your stock list their more suited to a neutral ph , 7.9 is hard and best suited to african and some central american fish i think maybe thats where your problem started .
Also if possible get a filter that can house diffrent media..its invaluable and the best money you will spend , not much consolation now i realise but in future it will be , they dont always show signs of distress at first it can take a while but when it goes wrong it happens quickly , i just have a feeling it was the ph balance that caused the stress leading to symptoms of disease .
I hope it all works out for you .

all my fish have been purchased from lfs, but they are very local and would probably have the same pH as my tap water unless they buffer it..... :unsure:

none of my fish seem to be flicking anymore :unsure: i have added carbon to the filter as recommended to clear any treatment left in the tank from the protozin added last week, the sores have almost healed up and fish seem happy.... although i did loose 2 rams through this disease... i was going to add some wormer plus today but the fish seem ok again.

should i go ahead with wormer plus still or wait and see what happens over the next few days...?

noticed a couple of platys flicking every now and then so added wormer plus and anti internal bacteria treatment on wednesday. i need to add the 2nd aib treatment on sunday, do i need to do a water change in between?

my fish now seem fine, no flicking (noticed) and all redness has gone so something has worked....... :good:

thanks for everyones help especially wilder :D
