Hi i have a pair of german rams which spawn every 2 weeks on the dot.
She lays 200/300 eggs

Problem 1. once the fry are free swimming after 2 days the mother eats them.
(this has happened about 4 times)

Problem 2. if i remove them and try and raise them myself, they all seem to die
off within a week.

So far i have only seven that have survived 5 weeks and are doing very well
they are just over half inch and their body depth is filling out nicely and some have
good colouration allready.

So can anyone advise me on how to keep them alive.

I fed the first batch on only BBS but as i said above only 7 survived.
when viewing under a few lenses i can watch the fry and i think that BBS
is to large for their mouths.

So for the last 2 batches of fry i have been feeding microworms but still
they die off.

can any one give me any advice or tips --- thanks

It sounds to me that there is a problem with your water if they are dying when you remove them. Where you are moving them to, is the tank/filter mature. Is the pH - GH about the same as the other tank.
When my fry are free-swimming i feed them on liquifry number 1 for 5 days, then they can take freshly hatched brine shrimp.
You could try taking the female out and just leaving them with the male as they are generally the better parent

Hi the water is taken from the tank they were hatched in so its not the water,
I have liquifry no.1 but i dont use it as it makes the water messy very quickly.

I had that problem with my angel fry. I use "hikari first bites", which is powdered fry food. They seem to like it and it's small enough for them to eat. Hopefully it's available where you live.
