hey guys

i have my 1st wriggler :hyper:

well i think i do,it has to be unless something else has got into the tank

i have a load more eggs still there, but the eggs are changing colour, what colour should they be?

i scooped out as many eggs as possible, into a tiny container, and placed the container in the fry tank. im hoping that the wrigglers will wiggle out into the main tank.

im going to get some piccys tonite of the setup i have, just to make sure im doing it right.

Is the wriggler near the bottom? Do you have gravel in the tank? If so, it will kinda look like the gravel is moving.

If you let the wrigglers into the main tank, they wont survive, they will be an easy meal. Keep them in the seperate tank/container.

sorry i ment the main fry tank

the little container is in the fry tank.

the little container has some gravel from the main tank (rio 400) and the eggs which i scooped up. i plopped this into the fry tank and have the fluval u2 blowing water current over them!!

sorry if i didnt explain myself correctly

the 1 little moving thing was like a pinhead sized thing,it was wriggling in the small container in the fry tank,so i presume its a ram wriggler, lol

its so hard to see it as i have black gravel,DOH!!! lol

also what colour should the eggs be?

The eggs should be tan, and if you look close enough you may be able to see a small black line on the eggs. The black line would be the fry.

Ah right in which case, once they are all hatched, release them into the main tank, they will eat the egg casing to start with. They should all be coming out around the same time, the eggs should be a creamy/tanned colour and will darked the closer they come to hatching and as said, you should be able to see a dark line (which is more like a dot).

Once you have let them into the main tank, start feeding 3 x daily with whatever food you have for them, little amounts and do water changes in the tank every 2/3 days (which is easier said than done, as they are inquisitive little blighters, so be careful not to suck them up.

oh no,quite a few, virtualy all of the eggs are white,is that bad ?

If they are white, they are not viable, or they were not fertilised by the male.

when i got home all the eggs were realy white.so i presume that they were no good :-(

i have now put the male and female into the tank,so if they do spawn again,i will take them out when there is wigglers.

im so gutted i thought i had a wiggler, closer look it was a bug
