Hi all, I'm doing a bit of research on Rainbow sizes in preparation of stocking my new 160L tank.
Because there are so many species there are lots that don't have profiles on this website or other aquarium sites, so I'm taking the minimum tank size to be similar for similar sized rainbows.
The problem lies with the inconsistencies in fish "max lengths" from site to site.
I've been using fishbase.org as my benchmark - is this an accurate site to go by or can anyone suggest a better one?

At the moment I'm looking to stick with Rainbows that won't get bigger than 10cm and stock up around 15 of them (6 will be the tiny Praecox variety) - in addition to 6 tiger barbs and 1 Glossolepis incisus which I've rescued.

Does that sound ok for a 160L

Thanks :D

Check out threadfin rainbow's, I have 9 currently, fun to watch and get on fine with my other community fish.

This is a good site for all things rainbowfish, with many species profiles. http://members.optushome.com.au/chelmon/

I do like them, but I'm trying to go for a certain 'look', I'm sticking with Melanotaenia varieties so that they all blend in together. Also my barbs are nasty fin nippers :(

thanks minxyfish, quickly looking over it, this site is very in-depth :) and as far as the fish-sizes goes it does tend to chime in with fishbase
