Hi all,

Has anyone ever kept rainbowfish with large cichlids before? I'm thinking a 125 gal with an Oscar, Green Sev, Firemouth and similar fish. Are rainbow fish compatible with these or does anyone have any experience?

They would be fine with a sev or firemouth (assuming you're getting the bigger rainbows like Boesemani or Australian and not the dwarfs) but I don't know about the oscar....

I would agree will the previous posts on the Oscars ,in the past I have kept Rainbows [ and gold barbs  ] with a Severum .
125 sounds like a good size .

Thanks guys. The Oscar is 1st on the list as i've wanted one for ages now and that seems to be a possible problem with the rainbows. I'm not convinced that the territory side of things will be an issue as you could say that about any Oscar tankmates and it will be a big tank. Any specific problems with this combination you can think of?

I am certainly looking at the larger rainbows, any other comments/thoughts greatly appreciated.

Thanks again
