Picked up a big clump of Xmas moss yesterday, I am redoing my Pico to house a load of Shrimp.

Just waiting for the redmoor-esque wood in my bath the finally sink and I am going to hack that to bits to use as hardscape.

Have read mixed reports on whether Xmas moss will attach itself to wood, I have big reel of black cotton to tie it on initially but will it take like Java moss does?

If not I may have to try Java instead, although I prefer the look of the Xmas.

TIA

Noooooooo.... don't go with Java over Christmas... Christmas is so much better. Much more uniform.

It attatches to wood well, much better than stone, rocks, slate etc.

The more cotton the better from experience, it will keep it closer to the shape of your desired object you are covering.

Nice one, have a fresh reel to use.

Also going to make the back wall of the tank moss as well using flyscreen mesh, that's the plan anyway.

Sounds great Mike... Make sure you get some of your excellent pictures up to show the progress. Why not make a Journal too? We WILL make you obsessed with plants as well as Plecs. :D

Always wanted to try a moss wall, maybe i will one day. :D

Hmmm, maybe, although that would require being organised, something I struggle with. I shall consider it!

Need the bloody redmoor to sink first, have to get the moss sorted asap, it is a big ball loose in the tank at the moment.

Plonk it in a jug or glass mate, it will be fine. I have had some in a jug for a month. lol.

Also, you could weigh the redmoor down with some rock temporarily.

The redmoor is approximately 5 times bigger than the tank...

The tank is only 13l so I have so little room to play with it needs to be sunk before I scape it!

I have a wood fetish, it is a weakness, I am seeking professional help....

i have the same problem Mike. I'm always touching my wood.

yup mines tied on with cotton on to wood, no probs at all.

I use suckers with pipe holding clips to keep pieces in place :)
