Whats the volume? and isnt this the same tank you started a journal about earlier? You and a mate have the same one? If so, its probably best to post undates in the same topic :) makes reading and following the whole thing much easier!

lol yeah, sorry journal stays in this forum, but questions during its progress I was placing in the general forum....

Yeah we both got the same tanks, but they have both been set up independently in our own homes. I've been keeping fish for a long time, but never in an aquarium this small.

the tanks theoretically holds 16litres but real volume (I think) is ~14.5 litres. due to the bog wood/sand/substrate.

Just been offered some glowlight danio, but I reckon they are too active a fish for an 'cubish' aquarium of this size.

Just waiting for plants to arrive, the water has just started to take on a tannin tinge (which I prefer in my tanks).

Thats like 4/5 US gallons, not alot of room. You could have 1 dwarf puffer or a betta :)

yeah i'm liking the puffer idea, trying convince the mrs that they are cute (promise she could pick the inhabitants of this one).

The only thing that concerns me there is that the filter is not brilliant, its basic low powered trickle filter, which I modified to accept some biological media.

Not enough room really for an internal filter, and I think things would get a little crazy in there with a small external!

thanks :>

are you going planted?
DP's need planted tanks really to be happy, same goes for ottos, not that they wont survive, they will but not thrive.
I would add 3 otto's shrimp and 6 microrabora.
