Hi....yes I'm new *holds her hand up*
I have a fluval U2 internal filter in my tank....i set it up as instructed, but i just wanted to ask what the white pellets are in the case in the middle?
I've read about Carbon, is this what it is?? If so do i keep this in during the cycle or not?

Create a cycle log(loads on here to look up using the search) that way all you qustions can be kept in one thread and we can help you better by having all the advise in 1 thread :good:

Dont worry about that you can always edit it, problem with the internet is anyone can give advise if it wrong we can help you out and we can always learn from each other. I set up 5 tanks this year and always start the log day before gives you a chnage to test water chemistry and temps etc ... :good:

lol you know your bio say male right :)

yes it says Female in my profile...dunno why it thinks i have a penis?

yes, that's a biomedia. i'm not sure about the U2, but the U3 I have has flat, stiff carbon impregnanted cartridges; you'd be better off getting rid of those and putting another of the thin sponges in.

No. You definitely DO need the case with the white biomedia in. Leave that in. It's not carbon.

If you have a carbon pad/sponge (flat, stiff, black, sort of pillow or rectangular shaped) you can take that out.
