ok so my tank has been wonderful for months and im about to lose my first fish. i have been so proud as i havent lost 1 fish since stocking this 4 months ago.

i come home to find my smallest pygmy cory with a bit of fuz on his bristles. his mouth seems to be full of this fungus stuff and when i went to get him he was sluggish and weak.

next...i have a leapord danio that has ich...will this ich spread?? ive tried and tried to catch him and cannot...i was just going to get rid of him because i love my fish and DO NOT want to lose any of them. i would lose sleep over such thing.

please help guys!!! im not going to treat the whole tank for 1 fish and do not have a hospital tank. i would though, help my pygmy cory if its possible. thanks guys!!

Unfortunately as it is..... If you've identified it positively as ich, you're gonna have to treat the whole tank.

If it is mouth fungus your Cory has, a dosage of 50mg per gallon of Terramycin or aureomycin can be expected to be successful after 48 hours.

For the ich treatment, I normally just raise my temperature to approx. 30 Deg C for about 3 days, and the gradually back to normal and it has alwys worked in my case, but I know many forum members do not agree with that, so I'd suggest do it the hard way:

Add 0.8 to 1.0ml of percent stock solution of Methylene Blue per gallon of water and repeat after 2 days.... Coal filters would remove the dye so remove them during this period & use only artificial aeration with large bubbles near the surface.

Methylene Blue hinders reproduction of the parasite, forcing it to simple devision; after a short period the ich dies. Methylene Blue is completely harmless even to young fishes. In the weaker concentration, it does not affect the plants.
