bought a gold nugget pleco yesterday, and ive just realised hes lied on the bottom on his back, and on his side he seems to have scales or whatever skin plecos have missing in a small patch and a molly is pecking at it help please i dont know what to do :(

Issolate him fast, in a breeding trap anything, water stats please in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph, how many fish and which type, plus size of tank in gallons or litres.

Right hes in the breeder box, and all the water levels are completly normal. i have a 60 litre tank, which is slightly overcrowded
1 betta
3 clown loach (small)
2 mollies
about 7 molly juveniles which i need to take to an aquarium
my pleco
2 glass catfish

The clown loaches the tank is far way to small for then even though they are small, you will need to upgrade or take them back to the lfs, as they need a 90gal tank, was the scales missing on the plec before the livebearer started pecking at him, if the tank is over crowded which it is, how do you no your water stats are fine, can you post them.

sounds like he's on his way out - It may have been the shock of the move.

If your tank stats are a lot different from the stores it'll be PH or ammonia shock.

What are you PH, Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate levels at?

He does sound like hes' a goner, sorry, plec don't have scales, so can you describe the skin area, is it red inflamed, or white and fluffy.

ok ill take back the clown loaches back, and no the scales were not missing
its barely breathing now and was just shaking really fast as if having a fit
ph 7
gh 6

He's dying sorry, he won't last long, awful.

hes gone, any idea what caused it then? its not a disease that will affect all of them is it? or is it not possible to tell from the information

Trying to find out about the skin, as it can be bacterial or parasite, as it could affect the other fish in the tank.

Sorry R.I.P., can you describe it in more detail.

it was just a white patch on his body, but he seemed to have fin damage aswell and he was fine yesterday.
mollies have been around him but i was informed they were probably just inquisitive to the new fish
