Quick Help Please, Eheim 2217 Installation

Update: Now running pretty silent, obviously all the air has been pushed out, plus it has cleared my tank unbelievably well, I had a move around of some plants, created a mess when I was changing filters around and it is now clearer than Ive seen it in well forever, and the current is great, might actually get rid of some of the hair algae thats been growing lately :D

Impressed, glad I bought it.

yay en eheim convert  you cant get better than a qick fit filter

Mine is a 2324 I think, it got given to me by a friend who picked up that and a fluval of freecycle, I ended up buying all new rubbers for it at £12 and then after getting it working and a mouthfull of fishy water I got the fancy pipe connectors into the tank, fitting kit 1&2, saves me a bit of grief. I now only have to take it apart when i crouch down and shine a light through looking for fry who seem to like hiding in it.

I've just set mine up from new earlier this evening and shaken out a lot of air but it's still quite rumbly, what could I try?

So funny reading this thread back  Obviously mine did go silent in the end, as I now run 4 of them

As per pm hon, tilt it occassionally or try the turning off method I mentioned, but have faith, it will go quiet, slowly, then one day you will think its not working as it goes so quiet, you need to stick your head under the cabinet to hear it! Its just the first few days its drives you nuts :shifty:

It's like a rattling sound, as if it's running dry but not as loud as that, is that what you had?

Yeah very much like that, have you got the lattice screens the right way up? ie, with the spikes facing upwards towards the impellor, this stops the media being too close to the impellor, which is what I had to start with.

It will go quiet I promise, assuming you have checked the impellor is sitting properly in the shaft, which it should be as they usually come set up properly.

I'll check it all when I put the mature media in tomorrow morning, knowing me, I've most likely done at least one thing wrong! x
