So its arrived, now its come with two different size pipes and two different size clamps, obviously the slimer pipe goes on the smaller clamp, but which goes to the intake and which goes to the outtake.

Then I dont understand how these clamp things work, it looks like two together, so the hose goes into one, does the other connect directly to the in/outtake pieces. Am I supposed to cut the tubes into two, one into the top of the clamp, the other from the bottom of the clamp to the in/outtake piece or does the clamp fit directly onto the in/outtake piece. Nothing makes sense!!!!!!!!

Anyone that can take a photo of theirs would be a star!

Also the lattice screen, I know the bottom on goes with the spikes down, does the top one have the spikes up into the lid or down into the media??

Do I cut the hoses then, one piece attached to the clamp one end, the other piece from the clamp to the filter??

HELP

My eheim external has a 22mm pipe for the intake, the smaller goes to the return, and I cut my pipes to length, less distance for the pump to push etc. As for the lattice, I have a green one that has a spike in the centre, and a bump on it, I put the bump to the top of the filter to hold the intake etc away from the media otherwise it blocks the holes up.

Thanks Momo, have only just read this, however, I took a chance, cut the pipes about 3inch short, used the short piece to go from the clamps to the filter in/out takes, the longer parts to the strainer and spraybars, slim piece is the intake, fat piece is the outtake (least thats the way Ive done it), hooked it all up, sucked it to prime and hey presto its running and soaked me as the power from the spraybar is pretty good  especially when you dont have it pointed into the water. Nothing to angle the pipe/spraybar though, which seems very strange indeed, its just hose/spraybar nothing to attach it!!

Now its working fine, but is very noisy, one of the main reasons for this filter was its supposed silent running, well this is way noisier than my tetratec ex1200 which is now sitting outside the rio 180 (as it doesnt damn well fit in the cupboard *Grrr*) and I cant hear that at all.

So either its not set up properly or will go quieter over time, assuming there is trapped air.

Ive put both lattice parts facing downwards, dont know if this is right.

Davo, where are you :D ??

No shelagh, Im having a nightmare, just turned it off, after seeing the pictures on the box it came in (yes I know Im a idiot) which shows the lattice with the spikes pointing upwards!!!! Turned it back on and its still noisy, its like a nasty vibration noise.

I must have done something wrong, because everything Ive read says you need to actually stick your ear to it to know its actually on, well this can be heard in the kitchen!!

I have an Eheim 2213 and its silent. But when first set up and after cleaning,it can be very noisy cos of trapped air.The 'nasty vibration noise' sounds like a good description of this.
Give it a wee shake to see if air bubbles come out of the spray bar.I shake mine every couple of minutes after cleaning(just realised how bad that sounds!!),and it usually settles down quite quick

Lol, i said it takes time :p

sounds like you have set it up correctly and yes there isn't anything to angle the spray bar, just the suction clips,
If it is noisy then the cannister wasn't totally full of water when the cannister was switched on and therefore there is still air trapped inside.

Thanks for the pic, thats exactly how mine is, phew! Yeah there trapped air, cos when it shake it, loads is released, hopefully then this will quieten down after a while. Other than the noise, I like it, was easy to set up, once Id worked it out, although seriously eheim should put proper instructions in, they are non existant. And the flow is great, much better than the tetratec.

Its about £5 more for the eheim on ebay Shelagh and its rated for a 600L tank, so with an Oscar, you would be better off. Its also much smaller size wise than the TT.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Noisy
