I am trying to decide on which method to use for my fish room. I am impressed that my new pump is huge and can be used in or out of water, so i have had an idea.

The input and output from the pump will have two male connectors on. When i want to empty tanks, i will connect a sypon line to the input and the output to the waste. Switch on and start syphoning.

The i then fill, i will quickly disconnect and hook up to my water storage tank and my infill lines.

Issue is, i will need x4 female connectors and x2 male. Which means buying 4 eheim double tap couplings. They are great, but around £23 for a pair is expensive!

I've not seen anything else like them. Is there anythign?!

Hozelock. They have everything

how about some 3 way valves? less connecting and disconnecting bits that may wear out and leak?

oh, and how big is the pipe you're connecting up?

The syphon would need to be 5/6 meters long. I would need to test to make sure it worked ok, but using 16/22 tubing i don't see a problem. Its a bit powerful pump! I bought it for the head - the filling pipe work will be about 2.4m at the highest point then gravity will do the rest.

Got an example of a three way valve?
