*sigh* my 60g has ich or some other external parasite. it also has about 20 six-week old krib fry and 12 one-week old guppy fry. the krib fry definitely have spots on their fins; i can't get a good look at the guppies through the breeder net.

what should i do?! this is my stocklist for the tank:
-- 1 Kribensis Male
--20 Kribensis Fry [06/19/05]
-- 1 Otocinclus
-- 5 Dwarf Sunset Platies
-- 1 Paradise Fish
-- 3 L-200 plecos <-- these are my biggest concern, b/c they were so expensive
-- 1 Dojo Loach
-- 8 Guppies
--12 Guppy Fry [07/25/05]

making matters worse, i HAVE to go out of town for a WEEK starting Friday the 5th. and i have no fishy friends here at all. :/ i'm really freaking out over all of this... :-(

You will need to medicate but read instruction very carefully as with loaches you sometimes have to half dose.

Do you have another tank? Kribs can not only handle salt but they thrive in brackish. as always turn up the heat and do lots of water changes.

i've got an empty 10g that is literally just a glass box at the moment. i"ll have to get a filter to go on it, but i can easily set it up just as a quarantine.

i totally forgot about using salt! that will be perfect for treating both the krib and guppy fry! thank you sosososo much opcn, you wonderful man, you!

can anybody in the US recommend a ich med to go in the main tank?

Maracide. I had to use it a couple of times when the betta fry broke out with velvet. it's good stuff, but it will make your water blue :alien:

QuickCure or Jungle ich cure all r good. But you should know that fry r very very very sensetive to medicine. In ur case they be kill if you use those ich medicine. I think you should use do a 1/2 or 1/4 does to try it first. Some time ich can be kill with out medicine. In my case like a monthes ago. I have successfully treat ich with out using salt or medicine just raise ur temperature slowly to 86 and in a few days it should be clear. Also during this period of time do 3 day per 25% water change to take out ich parasite the one that attach in the bottom of the tank. So clean gravel. But well since u be gone for weeken matter effect you must ask some one to help u out. Its not a good time to go out of town during ich.

Woah 200 pleco :S

thanks, but i'm going to separate out as much fry as i can into a new 10g and use salt w/ a temperature increase.

i intend to treat the main tank with Maracide; will a 5-day treatment be enough?? or should i extend it?

--EDIT--
or can i get away with just removing the guppy fry? if betta fry can handle a med... -_-
