I now have a tank that's pretty much dedicated to my keyholes and geophagus tapajo's

I'm being nagged about a number of fish that need re-homing and need some help. The ones in question are 4 young blue acaras and also 2 young firemouths. They are the remains of an idiots disastrous tank episode, but that's another story.

Will these be troublesome in a 200 litre tank with 4 keyholes and 3 red head tapajos?

On a seperate note I'm after something to fill the top section, would hatchet fish be ok? Do they shoal together or are they scattered swimmers? Are there any other options?

I'm not really fussed on getting the acaras or firemouths, to be honest I don't want them but I'd rather give them a good home than them go to a bad one.

I have Ellioti in with keyholes without a problem I know firemouths are a little more aggressive. My keyholes are smaller than the Ellioti so I dont think you should have a problem, not sure on the acara though I keep hearing of nasty blue acara but my female is really quiet.

Long term, I'd say you would get problems in the tank, as the acaras and firemouths grow, and probably start to spawn too. Some blue acaras can turn out extremely vicious as they mature as well.
The geos, and especially the keyholes, would appreciate it if you rehomed the acaras and firemouths sooner rather than later.

As another option for an upper layer shoaling fish, I always recommend red eye tetras, who shoal just under the surface most of the time, although not particularly tightly unless scared.

I got some marbled hatchets, they almost always stay at the surface, and bunch together...they do not move around as much as I had hoped though. I now have 7 of the original 8 thanks to one jumping out of the water onto a glass panel when it was feeding time, I was away and it wasn't noticed :( They are unusual and interesting fish but for me they are not moving around as much as I'd like.

I am thinking about headstanders next, but will wait some time, I want to rescape first.

p.s. Definitely lose the firemouths and acaras, I have one firemouth at about 5" and he is a bit of a hard nut! In only 200L I would beware due to the space...the tank can't hold all those fist once they grow either, best to rehome sooner rather than later I'd say

It's ok I don't have them

Just feeling sorry for them in their current home with somebody else. Sometimes though it's difficult to say no to yourself as I'm sure you're all aware

Gotcha, you haven't taken them on yet, good job

If you would have a long term home for them then yes, take them on, but as they don't fit then it wont help them any to be re-homed over and over...
