Pretty sure this is ok, but just want to check....

Can I pour away the sludge at the bottom of my filter without risk of a mini cycle? I'm also replacing the floss, which makes up less than 10% of my media.

Thanks

It's best poured away. Your bacteria live on the surfaces of the media; the sludge will be a mixture of dead bacteria and mulm, so you won't risk a mini cycle by getting rid of it

yeh any sludge at the bottom or on the edge of the canister you can pour away it dosent affect the media as the current miss treagueard said its pointless to keep it

Replace floss. It is not a good home for bacteria. I find trying to clean it makes it less effective, but you can try if you like.

How should the pads be cleaned
Take a bucket of water from the tank, and gently squeeze/swish the pads in the water.
