Hi all,

I just recently added a piece of grapevine to my betta's tank to tie a bunch of the plants to. Just a few minutes ago, I noticed there is a milky white fluffy/gooey substance that has formed on one part of the vine. I don't see it anywhere else in the tank...just on that section of the vine. I boiled it for 15 minutes or so, and soaked it in boiling water for about 2 hours after before putting it in the aquarium.

What is this stuff? Here are a few pics I was able to get. Is it harmful? What should I do to get rid of it if needed?

Thanks!

Hmm.. I have no clue what it is but you might want to remove it just in case its something harmful.

ok the third picture looks like its weeping a milky white substance - does it almost look like its smoking? if so, its quite likely its not meant to be underwater.

I don't know if that was ment to be a joke or not but still... lol

Is that wood you bought, was there any plastic plant on it. It sort of looks like glue.

Nope, it is just a plain piece of grapevine.

Everything that I've read and been told is that you can use grapevine in an aquarium underwater. It's been in there for about 2 1/2 days now...the substance just appeared today.
