After moving everything from my smaller tanks to my one larger tank, if I were going to experience a mini-cycle, how long would it take before this happened?

I did test a little while ago and all checked out fine. Does that mean I am in the clear, or is there still a possibility it will all go pear shaped?

It is probably about 28 hours since I finished moving everything...

Hi,

If you moved the filter and everything then you shouldn't experience a mini cycle as the tank is able to cope with the amount of fish you have, let everything settle for a couple of weeks then you can introduce new fish gradually.

Thanks for the reply.

I had the standard juwel filter and a fluval 3 internal running in the 120 of which I have moved either the whole filter, or the filter media, into the new tank.

I did however add the fish from the 70, but not the filter media for that - just no room for it. I am sure it will be fine, but I was just looking for a time frame within which a mini cycle would occur, if one was going to.

When I moved my stuff from the 20 gallon, half the fish to a 55 gallon and the other half to the 75 gallon, and half the media to both tanks it was 3 days before I saw anything.

After 3 days I saw Am raise to .25 and Ni raise to .5, did daily pwcs to counter. Am dropped to 0 after a couple of days but it took close to 10 days to get the Ni to 0.

Feed lightly for the first few days & you shouldn't have any problem. I am constantly setting up & tearing down tanks, switching & combining fish & filters, growing out & selling fish, while hatching new spawns. If the tank goes for 3 days without any spikes you are good to go, if anything spikes it will be small, and a short cycle. If you do detect any ammo or nitrites, daily 25% water changes will take care of it.
