Question About Bore Water

hi guys just wondering but can you use bore water for your aquarium

its almost cleaning day and my mother pumped bore water into our tap water tanks

if anyones wondering bore water is water pumped up from underground

Makes more sense now.

Where it comes from shouldn't be too important, more what it has in it.

If it's safe to drink then I'd guess it'd be fine. Use a good water treatment for any dissolved metals etc. Don't do a big water change because no doubt it will be a different ph and hardness, and you don't want a big swing.

If it doesn't taste too nice I'd be wondering what it has in it.


I'd probably want to boil it first... Try and kill off anything nasty.

im pretty sure bore water is too saline, they siphon water out of artesian wells underground. My school has a desalinisation plant to make the water usable (only for the ovals though) , cattle can tollerate it but I dont think it is healthy for human consumption, therefore I wouldnt put it in my tank. But im not 100% sure either.
