Most people who have had them seem to be happy with them...

I had a few questions yesterday about them Here... in which i provide a link to one for £39.99.

If you do a search on +syphon +Python or just python there are plenty of peoples questions, tips and reviews.. Things to watch out for to stop water soaking the place, and how to add dechlorinator.

There is also a DIY pinned thread which tells you how you can make your own if you are not lazy like me.. ;)

Okay, here is a simpler way. Go to a water bed store and buy the tool they sell for emptying and filling a water bed. It is a plastic apparatus that attach's to your sink faucet. It will have a T connector that is fitted for a garden hose and at the end opposite the end that attached to you tap there is a slide (up and down) type valve. They will explain how to use but simply put if the water flows through the apparatus, the bottom valve is open, the hose connector on the T will have suction, the venturi effect. You connect the garden hose to the apparatus and put the other end in a tank. With the water flowing through the apparatus on your tap, the venturi effect will suck water out of the tank through the garden hose. As soon as the hose is filled for several feet at it's lowest point the siphon is established and the water will drain into your sink. Once the siphon is started you may shut of the tap and conserve water. To refill the tank simply close the valve on the tap apparatus and the water will be directed to the tank via the hose. The only difference between this and a Python is a Python has an on/off valve between the hose and the gravel vac, it has a gravel vac and and the hose is clear. The rest is precisely the same. Take the apparatus from the water bed store to the hardware store with you gravel vac and someone in the staff compliment will sort it out for you. The clear hose is irrelevant but the in line shut off between the hose and the gravel vac is plenty handy. I have attached at web site. have a look at the right picture. The part that looks like a "T" with the left side of the top too long is what you are trying to get from a water bed store. The left end is the slide valve that controls the direction of the water flow being down the drain (and therefore sucking on the hose) or out the fitting in the middle of the tool, where the hose attach's, to the tank. The part from the water bed store sells for about 5CDN$.
If you have questions P?M me.
