Pygmy Chain Swords

not bad for a fiver at all, they look healthy. Good find!

Good pics as well, the tank is looking good!

Pygmy Chain Sword aka Echinodorus tenellus look like this(the plants at the front) when they are healthy and in submerged form.

Your's are still in emersed form.

could you please decipher that for a plant novice? Does that mean that they will wither away and die, or will they gradually changed to the 'submerged' form?

In the plant nursery they have been grown out of the water. They've adapted their leaves to emersed form.
Now, when you introduce them back under water, the leaves have to go back to submerged form. It's easier for the plant to forget about the emersed leaves (hence they start dieing off) and just concentrate on producing new submerged leaves.
So, you will see the leaves die off, but new leaves should emerge if the plant recieves all the resouces it needs (nutrients, carbon). It's important to remove the emersed leaves when they show signs of dieing off because they will leach ammonia, thus attracting algae.

thanks for the explanation. Dissapointing that I've basically got to watch them die and regrow. Shame that I've already left postive feedback on a certain auction site.....

Why shouldnt you give them positive feedback? They've given you healthy plants which is an important first step.
Most plants we recieve online and from the best suppliers (tropica, aquafleur etc) will send their plants in emersed form.
