saw a really lovely angel in an lfs, contemplating one for our tank but it was just labelled as pygmy angel and the shop was really hot and busy so i didn't wanna hang around to ask about it!

sorry couldn't get a pic but it was the same body shape as a coral beauty about an inch and a half long, body was white with thin vertical orange stripes then it had a black tail with a white edge to it.

thought as it's pretty distinctive i might be able to get an ID without a pic! :D

found it out myself

it's an Eibli Pygmy Angel

soooo..................... if we were to get this instead of a coral beauty is there anything different we need to do/know??

goes it still graze off algae?

info i've found seem to say it'd be alright but i'd like to check with you guys as i can't find much about it :)

Agreed, they can be coral nippers (somethin like 10-20% of individuals nip corals). Pygmy Angels are all primarily carnivores. They may nibble on algaes like Nori, but wont bother with common nuisance algaes.

aha i did think that might be the case but hadn't researched it much. ian's been dying to get a coral beauty so it would eat all the algae in the tank..... maybe not then. :/

we knew there's a chance we'd get a coral nipper, we're on v good terms with the lfs so we think we'd ask him to order us one in and if it turns out to be a coral nipper we'd take it back to them and swap it for something else.

hi miss wiggle, we've just purchased an eibli dwarf ange fish, we've been contemplating a coral beauty for a while but after visiting our lfs today with chrimbo money decided to bring him home with us, at the moment he's settling in nicely, will get a pic up soon if we can he's quite inquisitive at the moment though :snap:

cool, good luck with him :)

yeah our first thought was coral beauty.... but now we've looked into it more and been browsing lots of shops we've seen there's loads of other options for a pygmy angel than just a coral beauty.

and i was being dim not Ian, he didn't think it would eat all our algae, i just thought he thought it would  what can i say?!?!
