ste12000 who I got my female GBR`s from has got some coral red and purple pencil fish in stock, which after googling them I think they look really pretty.
Apparently the corals are smaller so I`m aware that they won`t be any good in my tank but the purples are apparently bigger, same size as neons? and I was wondering if anyone knew if they were good community fish?

All info appreciated B-)

Looks like I must keep picking rare fish

lol! Yes, you must; I'd never even heard of them and wasn;t going to pass on any advice based on me googling them; you've done that yourself!

They do look lovely though. I'm always keen on anything that's purple  I'd get some if I had the room for them :)

Found this, though you prob have too :) I was looking these up the other day, look lovely dont they?!

Lol@fluttermoth, I love purple and I'm soooo tempted to get some.....devil sat on one shoulder, angel on the other....guess which is winning at the mo?
Thanks for that link fluffy, I hadn't seen that :good:

Impulse is definitely overtaking being sensible at the moment, it's just difficult to justify the cost of P&P sometimes

i cant google them, i cant, i cant, i'll just want some

They are ever so pretty but after reading more on them i dont think theyre suitable for my community tank, the red humps may decide to have them for lunch! :hyper:

I have a 35ltr Arcadia shrimp tank but Im not sure if having just a couple would be fair, it's recommended that 6 be kept together. Oh what to do????

Simple; get another tank; bet you've got room for one really ;)

Oh if only!! I think me and all the fish and shrimps would end up in the shed if I tried to push my luck with another tank now :hyper:

Yes! Turn the shed into a fish house!

Coral red pencil fish are stunning fish, a big shoal would look great :) You can keep them with other tetra, dwarf cichlids I believe. Ste'll know

Yeah I`ve had a 'chat' with ste about them and although I'm in no doubt about how stunning they are a 'big shoal' would cost me more than I can justify, even as pairs they`re a bit more than I can spend and justify, especially with the P&P as well. They should apparently be kept as 6 and at almost £40 for 6 fish I can`t afford to do that right now.
Plus as I have 2 Redhump Eartheaters in the tank it would be an expensive scooby snack if they decided to eat the corals with them being so small.

I think I`m just going to have to accept that I can`t have them at the moment

£40 for 6 tetra sized fish!
Im my LFS , they are £9.95 :shout:
IMO, very overpriced

You have corals and purples in your lfs??? Are they 9.95 for 6 or each? If it`s for 6......let me at 'em!!!!

No seriously, it is a lot of money but I know the corals and purples are rare to find, even so I still can`t spend that much on fish.......I`d not only be moved into the shed, I`d be in the doghouse too! :look:

It`s frustrating but I do have to accept that I can`t have them right now :shout:
