I know someone whos tank pump has broken (Biolife filter)
Im not even sure if they are going to replace it as they might get rid of the tank. I feel bad for the fish and need to know what to do. Shall I get a water change done to help while they have no pump?
The heater is still on and they have not been fed since yesterday.

thanks

If hes not wanting the fish anymore, I would suggest he gives them someone who does have a tank with working filter / pump or take them to your LFS, they will help.

it the filter is the one moving the water the 02 content will drop, plus nothing is removing the ammonia etc..changing the water will remove lower ammonia nitrate etc, but wont give them much oxygen.

Best not to let them suffer either way - find another home for them really :)

yep I want to get them out asap after work today. i have a small tank at home set up ready to take some and a few can go in my main tank. there are some fish that I want to go straight to the LFS but that might have to wait till tomorrow if I dont have toime before they shut (big angel, silver shark, clown loach etc).

Good plan. Might be worth taking his filter medium out if they have been kept in water, and put them in yours if yours hasnt had alot of fish in.
I would get them to LFS, better than them sufferning.
Sounds like you know what your doing anyway. Good luck :)

yeah I hadnt thought of that - its bio balls on that filter, ill have room in my external but my little tank will have to make do with a small internal filter.
fingers crossed they make a decision today!

well we managed to get most out today - I think they are going to get a new pump tomorrow and take care of it properly this time.

ive put the large angel in my 36" with 3 more cories, so I now how have the angel, 13 cories and 5 rummy nose which I figure will be ok for now.
the rest ive got temporarily in an 18" until I know what is happening. the unsuitable fish will be taken to my LFS or maybe offered on here (cown loach, silver shark and common plec) and the tank will be cleaned in the meantime.

by the way whats the min height tank for an angel just incase he doesnt go back...?

thanks!
