Ok, so after doing my routine water changes. etc, I went to go swish my filter media in my old tank water, like I always do. I popped it back in and plugged it back in, only to find it wouldn't work! Well, I tried EVERYTHING. Rinsed out the parts, re assembled it, to no avail. I spent about an hour on the phone with customer service, they made me do a million things with it, I got drenched, frusterated, and it STILL isn't working. They think it is the impellor, and are sending me a replacement. It will get here in 3 or 4 days :crazy: :blink: How the heck can I survive without a filter for 3-4 days? I called all of the LFS stores, no one carries the impellor to that particular filter. AAAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH

My heater is still in so my water temp isn't a problem, and I will cut back on food and do water changes every day, what else can I do?

Add an airstone to keep the water oxygenated, this will keep some of your good bacteria alive. Also, you can put your filter media in a bucket with an airstone, this will allso keep a lot of the good bacteria alive.

Is this a fluval filter by any chance :D ?
I've got quite used to repairing these, and if its a fluval this is quite a common problem;
a. take the filter sponge/s out in thier casing a place the filter upside down in the tank water.
b. get a chopstick ready at hand or somthing similar and while still holding the filter upside down in one hand, put the plug in the socket with another.
c. Tap the filter turbine/motor propeller with the chopstick a couple of times while its on and unpside down, and it should start :D
d. Carefully put the sponges back in in their casing, turn the filter upright and wal-lah! working filter :fun: B)

no it isnt a fluval, its a marineland one, but I'll try it!

like what Tokis-Phoenix said my fluvals always seem to stop working and jam up i just take them and and kind of push the propeler and they start again dont know y!? also i think you could try using something like nutrafin waste control that helps brake down organic waste whilst your filter is not working it might help for a few days?

YES! It is ALIVE! I poked it a few times with a chopstick and it is ALIVE! Thankyouthankyouthankyou everyone for the advice! I would have been bald by the time those replacement parts came!

My next question is, it has been without filtration for about an hour. what should I do? Also, should I cancel the free replacement parts, or keep them? I could just keep the,m for next time in case it doesn't start again.

keep them you never know when you might need them or to help out a fellow fish keeper :p an hour with out filtration should be ok did you keep the media in water? if so the bacteria shoud still be ok and you wont of done any damage
