I had a lovely Green Spotted Puffer before i went on holiday. It knew me, and knew when to beg for food! He'd always come up to the front glass and see me. It was my favourite fish.
I had 2 Figure 8 puffers for around a week before i went on holiday. Before i went, when i got one of them it had cloudy eye so i treated it and it was fine, but it was lacking in colour. It was eating but i was expecting it to go. The other was fine and still is.
I left instructions for my neighbour,as he kindly volunteered to feed the fihs. I know its a risk to make someone else feed you fish, with the risk of overfeeding. I had him come in every other day, to feed a pinch of live food(brien shrimp, tubifex and bloodworm) to my GSP,F8s and Bumblebee Gobies (all in seperate tanks).
When i got home from the airport,i couldnt wait to see my GSP coem up to the glass and see me. I ran upstairs to looks. Newts,Fighters, the community tank, the BBGs and the axolotls were fine...my marien tank was looking good too :hyper:. I walked over to the GSP tank(i knew that one of the F8s was already dead as he phoned me) and looked around into the deeply planted tank. I was getting worried now as i couldnt see him. I went over tot eh filter and found him sucked up where the water goes in. My stomach dropped! My favourite fish died. :-( Maybe it was because he went about a week and a half without a water change (i do 2 water changes a week). He was in brackish water and everything. I then saw tonnes of bloodworm lying at the bottom of the tank... :/ overfeeding....
On a brighter note im getting a new GSP and another F8 :hyper:

Whoa lost track there, back tot he question lol! My survivng F8 is fine. I had to swap tanks with him as i thought his tank was leaking but it wasnt (The new GSP will be going in the F8 tank as its bigger and the F8s are staying in the current tank). Ive been feeding him a little everyday as i dont want to be putting too much food in the tank as its kinda new (but the filter from its original tank is in there). Anyways about 2 minutes after hes eaten hes stomach goes from...well what they look like when theyve eaten(puffer owners know what im talking about) to what it does before hes eaten if you know what i mean. Normally it takes much longer for it to shrink back down. It might be cause hes not full enough(as im only giving him 1/4 of a frozen cube) or he mihg thave caught something from the one that had cloudy eye like internal parasite...?
Im not sure though,it might be that hes getting the right amount of food whereas before i was givng him plenty of food (enough that theyd consume in 5 mins). Does this sound normal? Hes about 1.5"-2"

Thanks

Hows the fish doing now.
Cloudy eye is a symtom of a desease not a desease in its own right.
Can be poor water quallity, stress, irration, old age, bad diet, parasites, to bacterial.
The fish with the bloated tummy after eating check to see what it looks like when he goes to the toilet.

fine now,its just been that i havent been feeding too much cause ive moved him to a new tank. Yesterday i got some live brine shrimp and fed him some of that and he stayed fattish for a good while :) Thanks

is the fish still going to the toilet.
