i was wondering if there were any puffer suitable for a ten gal with a filter made for up to a 30 gal tank besides dwarf puffers. if there are any can u guy please list them and if they are brackish plz tell me the suitable SG too. your help will be appreciated.

Well, no, by definition a 10 gallon tank (also known as a large bucket) is only suitable for dwarf species.

There's more than one dwarf puffer though. I have Carinotetraodon irrubesco, a boy and a girl (not yet a pair!) in a roughly 10 gallon tank along with some Otocinclus, a Rhinogobius goby, and a small male Celebes halfbeak. So far, no problems. This species is said to be among the more peaceful dwarf puffers, and that has been my experience.

There are a few other dwarf puffers worth finding out about, too. They're all freshwater, preferably soft to moderately hard, acid to neutral pH.

Cheers,

Neale

In a ten gallon you are quite limited, but puffers like Carinotetraodon irrubesco (Red-eye red-tailed puffer - freshwater), Carinotetraodon Lorteti (Red tail puffer - freshwater) and Carinotetraodon Travancoricus (Dwarf puffer - freshwater also) are your best bets. If you can go 5 gallons bigger your options are expanded to fish like Colomesus asellus (SAP - freshwater) and Tetraodon biocellatus (Figure 8 puffer - brackish).

Fig8 puffers are light brackish.

oh ok..........i was just trying to figure out what i was gonna do with my empty ten gal.......i was hoping i could get a F8 puffer but i guess not.
