Hi,

Dunno if this is in the right forum, but I was in a pet store on saturday browsing when I happened upon some nice looking small fish ... I knew they were chichlids so didn't really pay any attanetion as they were gonna get too big for my current tanks.

On the way out I had another look and saw that the name on the tank was psuedo cichlids with a sticker that said they only grow to one inch in lenght ... surely this can't be true?

Have they been cross bred with another small fish for this to happen and if so is this the way fishkeepin is moving forward, where "smaller is better" and there are GM tropical fish to suit the new smaller living lifestyle?

there seems to be a genus of ciclids called Pseudotropheus though i didn't not see any that small, some seem to grow to 1-2.5 inches. looks like your pet store made a spelling mistake lol or perhaps you miss read it.
now i stand to be corrected on this, all i did was a google search!!!

There are various dwarf species of Cichlid from both the African and South American continents which have adult sizes of 1 to 1.5 inches.
