Can't comment on all of these but picture 1 (the lower fish) is probably a male Labidochromis caeruleus - I gather the males have much more black on their fins. Apparently they have a good temperament so not likely to be the guilty party.

Picture 2 also Labidochromis caeruleus - may be male?

Pic 3 probably female Labidochromis caeruleus

Pic 4 and 5 - dunno - pass!

Pic 6 - Melanochromis auratus - the psycho fish from hell! This could be a female or a young male - mature males are predominantly black and beige. From what I've read they are one of the most aggressive of all Malawis and will take on all commers.

Pic 7 - dunno

Thanks for your help maybe someone else can help me on the other photos

picture 1 looks to be a male and female yellow lab.

picture 2 looks to be female but could be young male yellow lab.

picture 4 looks to be a pearl alounacara

picture 6 looks like a female melanachromis chipokei

picture 7 looks like a male greshakie

not 100% sure so see what everyone elas thinks. the chipokei are a very aggresive mbuna and that could be the cause of the missing tales. what size is your tank?

Picture 5 could be a hybrid of some sort, don't know what it is. Picture 7 looks like a Metriclima Callainos or Greshaki variety.

I agree about the Chipokei, they're even more aggressive then Auratus. Of course, there's more to controlling aggression then simply removing aggressors. You would want not only the fish to be compatible, but the tank should be big enough (at least 50 gallons for your mix) and the tank should be well stocked (at least 12 fish in that 50 gallon tank. It also helps to keep just a few species in higher numbers, so that the aggression mostly ends up between their own kind and their strenghts match up better. Have you read the mbuna post yet?

sorry but my guess is it's some sort of Hap. and not a chipokae, eyes are WAY too large and the whole lip area isnt chipokae

I am very happy that you are trying to help but today i took the fish to the pet shop and he told me it is a female auratus ,i will stick to what you say since we are still far away in keeping cichlids in Malta

Thanks
Emmanuel

Hi ,it seems that my problem is bigger than i tought since my aquarium is a 20 gallon 36 x 12 x 12.

What is the best think i do should i remove all the fish and keep the yellow lab only .

Thanks

hey brewyn,

i reread your post and since you never labeled #5 thats where I went screwy, dyslexia or some chit lol who knows

Mel_chipokae_01.jpg
found a male chip pic though for ya. seems were both having posting issues LOL

;)

I have a 6x2x2 mbuna tank, I have a lot of aggressive fish, some of which you have. your tank is not nearly big enough to keep this kind of fish and also develop some natural rockwork. overstocking of mbuna and as much rockwork tends to minimise the aggression as the mbuna are a territorial. you need abigger tank bud inorder to keep your fish together. well worth it in the long run.

helloooo mamafish, I dont have a clue what no 5 was and thats why I never listed it. dont worry, its all that sun you get in colorado. if we were all experts, forums like this wouldn't exist. hahahaha

Take back all of the fish except the labs, then add a few more labs to give them a group of about 6. That would pretty much complete your mbuna aquarium.

how do you use this post, whenever I reply to the post it keeps bringing up other stuff that i am having to delete before continuing. plus how do you post photos.???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
