this is a photo of my tank before i stocked it.

Ok so i will remove all the other fish and keep the 6 yellow Labs maybe 2 males and 4 females

THE ONLY FISH I WOULD REMOVE IS IN PHOTO NO: 6, YOU DONT NEED TO GET RID OF THE REST. PUT PLENTY OF ROCKWORK IN FIRST AND SEE HOW IT GOES, A TANK WITH NOTHING BUT YELLOW LABS IS BORRING. whats the point in having a cichlid tank if you only keep one type of cichlid.


in a tank of 1 metre i would probably keep about 15 fish, with plenty of filtration.

here are a few of the fish that i have living happily with my yellow labs, I have a lot more but they are happs and peacocks.


Pseudotropheus socolofi
pseudotropheus elongatus blue
pseudotropheus elongatus (red)
pseudotropheus acei
elongatus mpanga
tropheops chilumba
maylandia hajomalandi
maylandia zebra gold (mundola reef)
metriaclima zebra

the next few fish go well in a malawi setup and will keep the fri population down

synodontis petrocola
synodontis zebra catfish*brichardi*
synodontis feather fin
marbled birchir * grow too big to be in a small tank and will reduce the fry population*
