Hi all

Quick question, set up new 40G last night. first step was putting in 2 large long airstones to make a bubble wall.

i cut the air tube and put in a T shaped junction then ran 2inches of pipe from the junction to each airstone.

then filled with gravel and water.

When i turned the pump on the left hand airstone had 75% of the bubbles with the right hand one letting out sporadic bursts of bubbles.

not quite the symetrical bubble wall i was looking for. Where am i going wrong?

i'd like to sort the problem sooner than later cause plants are going in tonight.

Thanks to anyone who can help..

The problem is the air is hitting the T Junction and then going to one side more than the other. You could try restricting the air a little on the side with more air and this will then make the air go to the other stone. I use air clamps and taps to help but squashing the air tube with anything like an hair grip or something to just restrict it a little will work.

Good luck

Why do we try to over complicate things. Great idea mate i'll nick one of the misses hair clips as soon as i get home.

and thanks for the quick reply

Thanks Technium,

I have put a hairclip on the air tube 1 inch before the left airstone.

Hey Presto after a minute of fiddling it works a treat.

If anyone is about to buy an air valve and can't be bothered to fiddle about cutting air line etc. i can highly recommend the humble hair clip (paper clip would also work).
