Hi guys

I have a tank 100cm long 40cm tall 40cm deep, it has been established for over 2 years now. I hadn't done a clean for a while and the water was starting to turn yellow so yesterday I replaced about 40-50% of the water and gave the tank a good clean.

Yesterday the fish looked healthy and today I added some new plants (5 in total)now over half the fish are swimming at the surface and gasping for air- including several clown loaches!

Anyone got any ideas what I should do? Temp is 28C

Cheers

yes filter wasnt cleaned too long ago and seems to be in good order

As nelly asked what are your water stats? Ammonia , Nitrite , Nitrate , PH , Temp
How did you clean the filter? Tap water/tank water
What is the flow like? As long as you get good ripples you should be good on the o2

Any new additions?
Any changes after cleaning?
If they werent gasping before cleaning and theres nothing new shouldnt be O2.
You should take a sample of your water to your LFS if you can't afford your own liquid tests, you need to be more specific

just a few new plants today

do you recommend doing a partial water change for tonight?

A water change wouldnt hurt, just make sure you use dechlor and match temps. If I were you I would try to take a sample as soon as possible to get tested
