Prime

My theory behind adding prime at the end is... well we know it takes seconds/minutes for prime to work, to even dechlor a whole tank, BUT does anybody know how long prime works for before it exhausts itself and stops working all together? I would hate to think that if I added it at the start of refilling that it could stop working or be less effective before the tank has been fully refilled. Thats why I add it at the end. Its just a theory mind and I aint had any problems yet. XD

That's a hypothesis, not a theory ;) ...  Personally, I add half at the beginning and half towards the end.  To account for the potential decreased ability to dechlorinate by the end of the refill process (like fluttermoth, I add the water very slowly).

I emailed Seachem a year or two ago (unfortunately I didn't keep it!) asking if there was anything that could build up in the water, if you were dosing for the whole tank's volume, and in the reply, they said that Prime denatures, in aquarium situations, after about 24 hours, so you're quite safe to add it at the beginning :)

So another words Prime stays active in the water column for 24 hours? Wow! Another reason why seachem prime is truely an amazing product
