:*) oh so I do need to plug it in.

The instructions are crap cos it says to plug in after the 48 hours. *sigh*. Will phone company today. Thanks adelphi. Sorry walt for not totally believing you!!

edit
aquatics online dont take phonecalls till 10am :grr:

Just a thought tho...I can remove the solenoid until I get a plug...just have co2 24 hours for a few days. better than getting algae?! (and cant be bothered to go back to nutrafins!)

just phoned aquatics-online.

He said all JBL products come with 2 pins.

He said JBL wouldnt send them to UK with 2 pins if it wasn't legal.

He said cut off the wire and put a 3 pin plug on!

I'm a bit miffed. I told them they should put on their website that it comes with 2 pins.

I'm going to go to electrical shop and buy a proper adapter.

I'm not suprised your a bit miffed...! It was my understanding that all electrical goods must come with a three pin plug...

have been to dixons and spoke to someone else and they both assure me a shaver plug adapter is all i need. In fact I didnt say anything to the guy in dixons, just showed him the info, and he immediately gave me a shaver plug to buy, but i already have one.

I'm gonna try it tonight. So if I don't reply for a few days is cos I've shorted out my house!

I have spoken to John Baker at Aquatics online and he seemed quite concerned that you didn't have the three pin plug adapter and assured me he'd be very please to sort it all out for you. So give him a phone.

I know normally Aquatics online are very good as i've bought lots of products off them before, so this is why i phoned.

You must not cut off the MCT transformer. The additional 3 pin plug is made by europlug.com. It should of come supplied as mine did.

I did buy a shaver plug but i found it did not fit as the pins on the mct transformer are two long, also shaver plugs are 1 amp.

I have also rung jbl in germany their number if you want it is 0049 623641800

here is a picture of what you should have..

I didnt get a reply from John yesterday so I'm guessing it'll be Tuesday before I hear anything.

I tried taking the solenoid off last night to run it without power, but it seems like i'm missing a piece as it just doesnt seem to fit together without the solenoid which seems odd to me as its sposed to be the same as the kit without the solenoid, so you would think you could run it without.

I am the worst person for buying anything electrical, more often than not theres something wrong, so i'm not surprised or put off. Its just a pain its bank hol weekend. I'm going to put 1 nutrafin unit with extra yeast to get a high output over the next few days and change in 2 days if necesary. I can connect the nutrafin to the jbl diffuser I would have thought? Actually. I think I'll use the nutrafin ladder. Dont want to risk a set back by having yeasty stuff in the jbl ladder.

I dont believe this.........you mean you cant auctually use the co2 at all!!!

You have just paid over £150.00 for something you cant auctually use because they dont supply you with the correct adapter, well i now know which co2 unit people shouldnt buy if Aquatics Online cant be bothered to supply the correct plug, i would have to blame the retailer though ie. Aquatics Online, ultimatly they are passing the goods onto you and therefore have a responsibility to ensure that the product can be used as advertised without the need for an adapter.

I would make absolutely sure that he is aware of this thread when you do eventually get in touch with him because I for one, am mega unimpressed that they would auctually sell products that cant be used straight out of the box.

Sam even if you do speak to him on Tuesday it could be wednesday at the earliest before you get the adapter or more than likely Thursday, a week later, i would definatly make him aware of this thread, there are dozens of potiential buyers watching to see what happens here, but i would probably still try and get one today myself, i dont think i could wait a week.

Well admittedly I am a girl, but yeah as far as I can tell I can't get it working at all. My boyfriend has unscrewed everything that can be unscrewed, and we can't see a way of attaching the tube to the pressure reducer. It's really annoying. But at the end of the day it was still the cheapest out there. I'm not going to cut my nose off and send it back for a refund.

I've still been told I can use a 2-pin shaver adapter plug and I reckon I probably could. But I'm more worried about doing damage to the solenoid.

I've got one nutrafin set up, and have about 1 bubble per sec coming out. At that rate I'll prb have to change it tomorrow night.

Also I've seen tiny bits of the bga on the glass :( Looks like the black out didn't work 100%. Will prob do another one, but I will wait to see how bad it gets first. I have faith that the blackout will work eventually.

Just keep removeing the BGA when you see it, if you see it on any of the gravel just stir the gravel around, this gives better circulation around that area and should help to combat its comeback, around the edges of the glass, between your gravel and the front and side glass is an area prone to BGA, just do the same thing and disturb the gravel every week or so and this creates more circulation, hopefully it wont start to make a comeback if you increase the nitrates, and as a last resort id do another blackout, just wait and see but in the meantime harass the bga every time you see it and this will definatly help along with the extra nitrates.

Thanks zig. I'll do that. So I'm not completely doomed yet :) Plants have started pearling again so ppm of CO2 must be increasing. Will test later. Getting nervous about the unveling of the 5 gallon :S Will post pics tonight in the appropriate thread.

just an update on this....

I emailed aquatics online on Friday...still no reply. Have emailed them again today...still no reply. Have been unable to phone due to their limited opening hours for phone calls.

Adelphi has bee such a star and has helped me out :) Thanks so much Adelphi :) (she??) got me a phone number for John Allen Aquariums who I have phoned and they said they'd send me the plug I need! So fingers crossed, I'll have it by the end of the week.

I hate giving bad press to any company, so I'd like to say I've used Aquatics online to buy loads of my hardware and I've not had a problem. Their prices are very competitive and the stuff usually arrives really quick. But I think it's their fault about the missing plug, not JBLs. And I guess I was just unlucky getting the member of staff telling me to chop the 2 pin plug off and stick my own 3 pin on.

But for anyone out there getting a JBL product...don't cut the plug off!!!!

Anyway, they had better email me back quick to keep my business!!

Oh one more thing...I mentioned above that I would try and remove the solenoid to try and run the CO2 24/7 without power...well didn't work...we took the solenoid off but we couldnt figure out how to connect the tube to the pressure reducer.

after a few days away...there was a knock on the door at 8 this morning and my CO2 was delivered :D

Won't get a chance to do the setup today :( but maybe tomorrow...!

Make that one more to the pressurised CO2 club :D :D :D

I was browsing through ebay and say a brand new JBL Profi 2 for £129.99, plus £10 p&p but the best part is that i get another CO2 canister fully filled for free.

So i got myself JBL Profi 2 with 2 canisters for £140.

Not a bad deal if you ask me. :)

paul.
