Hope the link works but if not its item number 170108003402 on eBay. This is basically the tank i have (except mine is purple). Is this ok for a betta? The filter works so the water trickles in a horizontal line across the top of the tank. I just wondered if anyone else has similar set ups and have betta/s in them. I have read up on slowing the current down which i probably will do but if anyone can offer any advice i'd be grateful.

i had a betta in a v similar tank, looks fine :good:

Thank you all for your advise and encouragement! I thought i better ask as my previous betta, Harry, lived in this tank and sadly passed away a few weeks ago. I thought maybe it was something to do with the strength of the filter/current. Anyway i've read things on here that can sort this out so it's not such a problem i guess. I just wanted reassurance really. Since Harry's passing i've cleaned the water and kept it cycling.

My tank has a heater and lighting:)

Thanks again, betta shopping for me at the weekend, hopefully with Harrys blessing. God rest his soul.

Looks perfect mary, he'll love it!

He didn't get shoved around by any currents did he? (and no i don't mean as in bullying raisins!)

pmsl @ bullying raisins.

i'm not sure if your tank does but my tank had the overhead trickle filter and also a small powerhead (part of the bit hanging down the left hand side). The powerhead would have been too strong for him but we found (from our rnadom box of fishy stuff spare parts) a little plastic stopped that fitted it perfectly and it just sent all the water up and through the spray bar where it was reduced trickling back down.

Yeah mines got the bar running up the left hand side where the water runs up and then it gets filtered and trickles out of a spray bar at the top. I saw a few times Harry riding the current as it were but maybe in the long run it was just tiring him out. I don't want to make the same mistake twice so what you have suggested is a really good idea, thank you. I've also heard others that have put some sponge in the bar on the left to slow the water down a bit in order to create less of a current. If you have any pictures that owuld be useful but i wouldn't think you have!

It looks like a beautiful tank! Very gorgeous. My first betta lived in a 10 gallon tank for a while (he moved up from a fishbowl) And he got sick the in the 10 gallon, but other people have theirs in 10 gallons and do amazingly well. I think it really depends on the betta. Some people have said that bettas 'patrol' their terrirtory, and a 10 gallon could make them tired. But it looks like a beautiful tank. Some bettas are good in 10 gallons, some are not. I think you will have to see with the betta.

But, if you end up buying the tank and the betta doesn't like it, you could always get other fish to put in it :)

that is a lovely tank if I was a betta I would be really excited... :good:

:) thank you. Unfortunately that plan is on hold as my red finned shark, Seb, has decided to be a bully to some of my panchax so i've had to move them in to the empty tank!!!

My plans never go smoothly!!
