I'm 99% sure these 2 (one's a platy, one's a guppy) are prego (they're huge!) and I think another one of my guppies is too, but I'm not so sure about that one. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how long it'll be on these 2?

They are squaring off. When they start becoming reclusive and hiding from the other fish, keep an eye out for babies. Word to the wise, platys think their babies are tasty. Hope your tank is well planted.

I have a few good hiding plants and the tank separator with holes. I already have around 8 fry and hoping for more soon. I'm a little worried about the fry being different ages though. When should I take the older fry out of the separated side? I guess I'm wondering, will the older fry (they aren't big enough for me to really be comfortable putting them with the adults) eat the newest fry?

as long as they are too big to fit in the mouth of the adults, they will be fine. I have fry swimming with my adults that are just over a cm long

#41####! Those are HUGE! mine never get that big! :hyper: how old are your other fry?

I just had a batch turn 3 months old. I'm moving them to the tank with the big fish in a few days. They should be fine. and are you sure they are 1.5 inches!? thats as big as my platies

They are platy/sword hybrids (i didn't know they could crossbreed when I got them)And I am guestimating. They wouldn't sit still when I was after them with the measuring tape lol

Seriously though, they may be pushing 4 months now. I am pretty sure they are female, and with them being sword crosses, that may be why they are big for their age.

Here are some picture of the various juveniles that I have. Gives you an idea of what is safely swimming with my adults. :)

These are the majority of my smallest juvies. I actually have a couple that are a tad smaller, and they are doing well in the tank with the adults. I have plenty of fake plants for them to hid in. Hope this gives you an idea of when your fry will be ready. Also bear in mind that I raised these fry in the tank from beginning to end. I did not use a breeder tank for them. They stayed in the 40g tank with my adults from beginning to end.
