Pregnant Or Fat?

i think my sunset platty is pregnant but i can't be sure..plus the breeding tank is full...where do i put her?

Thats the trouble with livebearers they dont know when to stop!! Yes she looks pregnant - if you dont have the room for any more babies then just leave her in the tank - im sure they will all be gobbled up

getting all females won't really help, as there is a pretty good chance that they are pregnant when you buy them.

lolz...well i think she can fit in breeding tank i've put her in and i think the fry i got in there are too big for her...

It will help, in the sense that they can only have so many before then not having anymore, rather than a mix of males/females constantly breeding.

yes, what i meant was that they would still have fry. and they can have several pregnancies from just one mating. but if non of the fry survived then, you're right, they can only have so many.

oh, and i wouldn't put her in a breeding trap, as it is very stressful for her, and she may abort the fry, or have them prematurely. and there is the possibility that she could injure herself by trying to jump out of the trap.

my last fish (a guppy called Donna) was in there for 2 months, i thought she was gonna give birth ages ago, and she seemed fine, did jump out of the trap 2 times but then put a top on so she couldn't anymore. her babies are fine and still in there....
