My Female Guppy has been pregnant for 4 weeks now..
it is looking like its going to burst.
it has a big black gravid spot..
has a square belly..
when do you think it will give birth?

ive been telling myself that for days..
do you think i should put the male in the tank to induce spawning?

id say but the female is a seperate area to give birth

I always leave all my fish in the one tank together to give birth that why they dont have the stress of being moved and any weak fry are gobbled up by the other fish
if you have a densly planted tank the strong fry will survive and the mother will usually find a nice densly planted spot to give birth in peace - i very rarely see mine actually giving birth as they hide so well in the plants i just see the fry swimming up to the floating plants lmao

There is a post on here about breeding Guppy's, it states that in some circumstances guppy pregnancy can last from 28 to 40 days depending on temperature etc.

At 29C and 4 weeks, you should expect a delivery today or tomorrow. Placing a male in with the female will only mean one more hungry mouth in the tank, it will not induce the female to drop her fry. By this stage she is probably well squared in shape, bulges in the middle when viewed from above and is hiding in the back, among some plants or along the gravel. Make sure there is plenty of cover and you will have fry.
When I say heavy cover, this is a clump of java moss for my endlers

This is a bundle of anacharis in another endler tank

and this is some fake silk plants along with real java moss in a xenotoca eisenii tank

It is not pretty, it is cover.

ive taken the male out..added some java moss and java fern..
do you think i should raise the temperature to 29?

I breed Guppies and I feel the same way when a guppy is ready, when is she going to give birth? Today? When I wake up? At four weeks she seems like she should have them any day.

She doesn't look terribly fat or squared-off from this angle...do you have another pic?

how about this one.
the pictures dont give much justice
