The topic explains it all. About an hour ago one of my guppies was on the gravel dead, her gravid spot was pretty dark and i read somewhere that you can gently cut her belly open to give the fry a chance and so thats what i did. now that i have the eggs, im not sure if this will actually work but with most egg layers people just take the eggs and put next to an airstone. i have my eggs which are like in a yellow batch around 15 , put them in an empty jar and put an airstone. Is there any hope at all for these fry?

I am almost 100% sure that you will not get fry from these eggs, however give it a go, it will be interesting.

Since guppies are livebearers, I honestly doubt it. Sorry.

ooh,
same i probably doubt it. but you could try.
how far along was she?
i read that if she dies when shes nearly ready to have them.
grab her and give her belly a few pats.. so they fry might move along.
wow. i wouldnt be able to cut a fish open.
only like.. fish from the seaa. lmao
sometimes gravid spots don't necercerally (im not sure how to spell that) mean that their pregnant.. thats what i have read.
i think its true because when i was at a pet shop. and i saw all the guppies in a tank. like 85% of them had gravid spots.
and they werent big.
so. was your guppy big? or just at the start of her pregnancy?
give the eggs a go. it will be interesting to see if anything actually happens.
goodluck.

The eggs need to be inside the guppy to mature. The fry have to be almost fully developed at the time of death for success.

What if you took eggs out of a livebearer and then took a egg layer and had her put all her liquid spawning spray stuff on the eggs as if they were hers. Would that do anything? OMG WOULD IT BE LIKE A EGG LAYER LIVEBEARER MIX?!?! That would rock

I doubt it 110%.

I would love to see you try it though. I am not sure where you would start.

let's rock

well be intresting to see what happens.

But the eggs are protected from fungus and other infections in side the mum, so I'll guess their be prone to infection, add some methylene blue to the water till it's just slightly blue this will help.

In theory though the eggs should surviver as guppies don't supply the egg with any nutrition.
