I've recently been pondering over getting a powerhead or not, I can't actually decide if I need one or not. If I get one, will it make a difference and if I don't, what am I missing?

I have a 125L tank and plan to stock:
12 Neon Tetras
8 Peppered Corys
A pair of Dwarf Gouramis
1 Bristlenosed Plec

I also plan to stock a number of plants including Java Fern, Amazon Sword, Java Moss and Jungle Vallis.

Thanks,
Josh.

I have a 125L with a 1400L/H APS filter and even then I wasn't satisfied with flow.

I added a Koralina Nano powerhead, I picked it up for around £19 new on eBay I think, pretty good price and pretty silent the only gripe is the cable isn't very long and with the tank + cabinet it can be rather limiting where to put it.

In a planted tank the flow is a godsend it will circulate nutrients effectively and thus help combat the formation of algae. I think the main benefit is it gives a lot of dynamics to the tank. I have a spray bar for my filter which goes across the top of my tank then my powerhead comes in at a diagonal from the top right down to the bottom left + there is a large piece of driftwood in the center of the tank. I imagine being a fish in that tank can be quite interesting when you come around the wood and suddenly met with a nice flow of water.

I think I'm going to buy one, they sound rather good and seem to have many benefits. Everybody wants to minimize algae and everybody wants their fish to enjoy being in their tank ~(hopefully.)

Do you recommend any that will be suitable for my 125L?
