On my regular weekly water changes, i syphon 60 litres of water straight into a 25 litre barrel.

I refill the tank with fresh water using a bucket, gently pouring the water back into the tank

I am curious as to whether something like a cheap 1200L/H power head, inside the tank, would be strong enough to pick the water up from the barrel and refill the tank

Any comments would be most welcome

how tall is the tank? in the description it may give a maximum lifting capacity. I'd expect a powerhead of that capacity would have a lifting height of about 2 metres :good:

I use a maxi-jet 1200, to pump water from the bucket to the tank, which is about four and a half feet tall.

The powerhead that i was looking at has a maximum lifting capacity of 1.6 metres
and from the base of the cabinet to the top of the tank is 1.2 metres.

I shall have to research the maxi-jet 1200

thanks for that guys
