While it isn't going to power a house you could get a UPS (uninterrupted power supply) to keep a tank going.  These are normally seen as a battery backup cor a computer but I see no reason why could not power a tank.  Electrical stuff for a tank tends to be on the low side as to wattage.  Never worked it out but I would imagine that a mid-size UPS would power most tanks for at least a day.
