Hi, I'm hoping to get a Trigon 350 in the next couple of months so I've been thinking of what to stock it with. I will be replacting my Juwel Roma 240l and transferring my male Rotkeil Severum 4-5inch and my Blue Acara 4inch into the 350. I really want to try a group of Geo's. I'm looking at maybe a group of 5/6 Geophagus Pindare too as they only grow 6" max. Also moving over will be 11 Bleeding heart tetra's.

So thats:
11 x Bleeding Heart Tetra's (already have)
1 x Rotkeil Severum (already have)
1 x Blue Acara (already have)
5/6 x Geophagus Pindare (possibly if i have enough room)

I will run 2 Tetratec 400APS air stones and 2 x 2000ef external filters.

Would the group of Geos be too much or would it be okay? I'm planning lots of bogwood and roots, rocks/stones, sand substrate and some fake plants around the surface to dim the lighting and provide extra cover.

Any thoughts...

I would go with just 4 of the Geos the foot print is not really ideal for a big heard or 6 and odd numbers are not 100% safe as an odd one could come unstuck if two pairs formed. I think it will be a great tank if you can find the Pindare as they are rather rare.

A few catfish like Hoplos or Portholes/Flagtails would be nice in there as well :) Or a few L number plecs maybe?

Thanks for the reply Wills. I found juvies (4-5cm) on Tropical fish finder for £12.95 each. I was thinking of getting 6, so I can see if any pairs form, then rehome at the very least a couple to cut down the footprint. I believe these are slow growers, which could also work in my favour as it will give more time for a pair/pairs to form. Would this be a good idea or is it best to do what you said and get just get 4 to begin with?

Obviously, I know your one of the experts of this forum. I fully understand your opinion, I just didnt explain that these will be Juvie Geos if or when I get them, so just wanted to make sure.

Yes, I wouldnt mind a catfish or 2 but I'm not sure which kind yet... :S

By the way, you replied to a thread some time ago about some possible Pindares I bought from Pier Aquatics. I'm pretty sure they are Geophagus Abalios, but not 100%. I will be rehoming these 2 before I get my new tank sorted.

Cheers Wills!!!
