Haha, I am definitely not close enough to you unless you want to go across the Atlantic Ocean.

Little far to travel

I decided today to go back to my LFS and got myself a little girl. She has already paired off with the larger of my boys, trouble is my other fella is now in hiding :look:

Really? They pair off that fast?

How aggressive do the rams get during breeding time? Will they get aggressive enough to kill all of my community fish?
Rams don't get aggressive towards other fish like many cichlids do. They will display and flare their fins but are unlikely to do any damage to anything else in the tank.

Frankly she didnt get a say in it, the largest of the two boys, decided she was his and that was it, he chases the other boy anytime he comes anywhere near her!

Lucky girl has two boys fighting over her presently, swimming around showing off her pink belly at them ;) :D

Dont worry too much if you have two males, providing they have enough space and hiding places, they wont bother each other too much.

Does either of yours have a pink belly? Speckles in the black spot?

Whereabout are you? Ive managed to find two LFS now that have a good selection of rams, male and female. So I now have two males and two females! :good:

Minxfishy

I have one which has coloured up very well and has no red belly or blue speck in the black blobb on his side...so I think he is a male.

The other I have not been able to tell as "she" is very faded and has not coloured up very well at all.

They only both colour up when the female tries to fight the male and I can not tell the difference between the two.

I am based in somerset and havent been able to find a LFS which does females...all males though are easy to find!

Sorry to hijack your subject :look: ;)
