Hey everyone. I just received my six new juvie angels yesterday. They came packed pretty well. They were bagged with bag buddies and all six were in the same bag. They left the hatchery at about 5pm mon. and got to my house at 2 pm tues. After close inspection I noticed that one had one red gill and another one had both gills red. The others were fine. They were acclimated by drip system and then entered the 75 gallon tank. After they entered the tank three of them hung close to the top and nipped at the surface for a little while. Today the gills are still red but everyone is acting perfectly normal swimming around inspecting everything, hanging out and very hungry. I'm suspecting that after being in a quart bag for almost 24 hours that they might have been getting a little oxygen deprived and maybe subjected to ammonia. Do you think that this is probably the cause for the red gills or do you think that it could be something else? I don't see any abnormal behavior at all. I've done a lot of reading about keeping fish healthy but not to knowledgeable on diseases and what they look like.
Also, If anyone thinks that the cause was from being subjected to high amounts of ammonia, how long should it take for the red gills to subside?
