ok i know my cichlids are still young...i belive them to be t-bone cichlids, anyway i only set this tank up last week on thursday due to there old tank failing (electrics all went haywire) anyway i feed the new filter with all the media from the old one so all should be good....but i noticed when i first put them back into the tank, the did this...

firstly they faced each other started to spin but only one at a time then the other, then after this they suddenly looked like they were kissing!! now i only ever saw them do it again yesterday, and today i cam home from work to find this...

what did you use just regular super glue

thanks catfish00, but got to ask guys....

how long will it take for these eggs to hatch? i mean some ive noticed have gone white?? ive never seen anything like it and cannot seem to find much about it online? thanks!

My convict eggs hatched after 3-4 days...they always stayed orange...never went white.

Should be the same for these since they are so closley related.

oooo, could this mean something is wrong? ive checked the water stats and eveyrthing is all ok, feeding hasnt changed and there still very protective of the eggs? its only a few ive noticed maybe 4?

Maybe just a bad batch....now they have bred tho...they will breed constantly so don't worry if this batch don't work out :)

will they? ive got to move them to a bigger tank yet....and what of this "breeding stunts there growth" is this correct? will moving them cause a problem?

Breeding will not stunt them as such its just that they are putting energy into making the eggs etc rather than energy into growing you will often find that fish of the same brood kept singularly will grow faster than a pair that are breeding. The white eggs (I think) are infertile eggs so these will not hatch they will learn how to look after their eggs as they get more broods. For instance they might go fluffy which is fungus and the female usually learns how to stop this or will start eating them to stop the fungus spreading. This fungus is not harmful to the fish though. Like cichlid crazy said they are similar to convicts so in turn similar to my hondurans as they are all part of the new Amitala (sp) family now I believe so they have genetic links so fry should appear 3-4 days down the line but then I am not too sure how long the fry will take to grow before you can sell them, mine are taking ages! Enjoy watching it all happen its a fantastic learning curve and you will come out better for it and so will they congrats with the eggs and good luck with the fry!!
