Possible Eggs?

Fungus is quite normal if its the fishes first batch, they will not of fertilised them all due to inexperience, the pit they are digging is to transport the baby's too once they hatch. or maybe they have abandoned the first batch not cleaning them and aerating them, hence the fungus. The hole could be a new spawning spot been prepared to lay more eggs.

Their is so many possibilities for first time parents but its all very similar spawning and parenting to the gbr's or atleast it sounds the similar via your description.

how ever they are now a pair and will keep spawning with the correct care and treatment so lots of water changes, a good hi protein diet and you will eventually get babys

hehe i have babys :) i found out why the eggs were moved to the floor of the pot, there babys! i looked at it this morning again (im doing this constantly through each day) anyway when i looked closely this morning i noticed an egg "pop" along the others, on a closer inspection i saw lots of little "tails" wiggling about!!! yay i now have baby fishes!! i am going to try get some pics once my new camera comes, my phone just cannot get these lil fish hehe so excited

ok i know my cichlids are still young...i belive them to be t-bone cichlids, anyway i only set this tank up last week on thursday due to there old tank failing (electrics all went haywire) anyway i feed the new filter with all the media from the old one so all should be good....but i noticed when i first put them back into the tank, the did this...

firstly they faced each other started to spin but only one at a time then the other, then after this they suddenly looked like they were kissing!! now i only ever saw them do it again yesterday, and today i cam home from work to find this...

i think there eggs, ive counted over 170 :) lol but erm, i have no idea where to start! what to feed them and not to mention there only in a temp 90L tank what do i do :( thanks!

yep they are for sure eggs. when cichilds do the jaw locking thing it generally means they going to breed. do you have any other fish in with them. well what i use to feed my fry once the eggs hatch are very fine crushed flake or buy so liqui-fry for egg layers ( there are 2 sorts, egg layers and live bearers ). hopefully the parents should rear the young.

hope this helps

nope, there on there own in a temp tank...its a pain as ive just finshed setting up there main tank. the eggs are sort of bouncing about at the bottom of the pot its odd to watch but i cannot wait for them to grow abit more and start moving about, luckily for me ive already got a buyer for them! my local lfs (a decent one thank god!) is willing to take them in with the possiblity of even giving me some doller for them! its a totaly bonus as i enjoy watching these's guys breeding so i know i can let them carry on and not worry about where the fry will have to go when they get to big! of course if anyone would be intrested id be more then happy to part with them although id need help on how to post them as ive never done that before lol

so, today ive just had anouther look at them and there all doing real good! theres a patch about the size of a 10pence piece wiggling, you can really see there tails now, it looks like the tails are attached to the eggs still?? im guessing this is normal. can anyone enlighten how they hatch and such?

yeah eggs with tails is normal soon enough you can see little fins

ok so today looking at the tank there is brown alge everywhere! im intent on water changing it tomoz....either way the babys are fine all growing still you can now see little beady eyes! there around 4 mm in size..but what are they eating???

well today after getting home from work i noticed my little babies are now trying to swim!! yay! they still have very big bellys mind but none the less they try and swim, get in :)
