I bought this chap at the end of last summer and, although they told me his species etc, I really cannot remember it. I know he is obviously an American Cichlid and reminds me of thr Geophagus types. But I'm no American Cichlid expert. So anyone who can please let me know exactly what he is. He was originally bought with what was hoped to be a female, but I'm 90% sure was a smaller subordinate male, which he killed within a few weeks. I'd love to find him a pair of females in the future. He's grown fast and is the picture of health. Sorry for the naff shots, the flash does him no justice.

Its a Geophagus sp. , as for being more specific than that, its very hard. The taxonomy with Geos is in a state, new species are being described all the time and shops make up names for different species in the hope that they can make an extra buck.

Id just say its a Geo and leave it at that.

Thanks for the replies and my apologies for the multiple topic posts. It wasn't showing up on my computer as existing. My bad.
